Only known signed First Edition, First Printing, Third State of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Signed by J.K. Rowling for the original owner on the dedication page during a special event at the Post Office Theatre on 27 August 2000, as part of the Edinburgh International Book Festival. The ticket stub from the event is included.
An authentically signed first-printing Bloomsbury hardback of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is exceptionally rare, and this specific copy is the only known signed First Printing, Third State (referenced in Philip Errington’s bibliography as A7[aaa]) to have ever surfaced on the market. According to Errington (p. 187), there were three states of the first printing, with a total of 5,150 copies printed. The First State lists "Joanne Rowling" on the copyright page and has a dropped line on Page 7. The Second State changes the name on the copyright page to "J.K. Rowling" while still naming Clays Ltd. as the printer. The Third State retains "J.K. Rowling" but omits the printer's name, uses thicker paper, and includes two black-and-white advertisement pages at the back.
It is generally believed that Bloomsbury printed the Third State in Australia for cost-efficiency, as they were also the publisher for the Australian market. Despite the books being printed in Australia, it may still be considered an original UK Bloomsbury first print edition because it is nearly identical to the other states, including the listing of the UK price '£10.99' on the dust-jacket flap. Since J.K. Rowling has never visited Australia for a signing, it is highly likely that this is a one-of-a-kind signed UK Bloomsbury first printing hardback of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
A near pristine, unread copy with the usual brown spots on the endpapers, combined with a fine dust jacket without fading or wear. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston of TheHarryPotterSpecialist, the world's sole J.K. Rowling signature expert, and an informative collector's card that provides additional details. Housed in a custom-made half-leather clamshell box
