Harry Potter e la pietra filosofale first edition, first printing – May 1998
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Salani 1998. First Italian edition, first printing, illustrated by Serena Riglietti, who was not well informed about the story and therefore made a rather bizarre cover illustration of Harry wearing a strange hat in the shape of a mouse's head and without his signature glasses, accompanied by a huge mouse. These deviations, plus the fact that it was one of the first translations of Harry Potter due to its publication only ten moths after the first UK edition, make this rather special edition a very popular collector's item.
The red cover with a linen texture and gold lettering has a very shallow small scratch on the front cover and two spots on the back cover, possibly occurring during the production process. Both minor flaws mentioned are very inconspicuous. Otherwise, the book is in fine condition with no signs of wear. The dust jacket, apart from a small wrinkle at the top of the spine, is also in fine condition with no shelf or corner wear. A highly collectible copy.
