Octavo, original red cloth, lettered and stamped in gilt on spines, top edges stained red. Folding maps at the rear of each volume. The Fellowship of the Ring – First Edition, Tenth Impression (1961), 3,750 copies printed; The Two Towers – First Edition, Seventh Impression (1960), 4,000 copies printed; The Return of the King – First Edition, Seventh Impression (1961), 2,000 copies printed. A bright, clean set. Small ink name and date (1961) on front free endpapers. Fellowship has a very slightly faded spine and top page edges, along with a small water stain on the rear panel. Light wear to the cloth of each volume, internally crisp and clean. The books come in excellent facsimile dust jackets.A nice set of later printings of the first edition, issued before the text was revised by the author in 1966.
