The Lord of the Rings 2-2-3 set [1954-1957]

A very early set Lord of the Rings, consisting of FIRST editions, SECOND impressions of The Fellowship of the Ring and of The Two Towers and a THIRD impression of Return of the King. The binding of The Fellowship of the Ring is slightly shorter than the other two volumes (as Issued). Original red cloth, lettering to spines in gilt, top edges red. With dust jackets. Folding map in red and black at rear of each volume. Bright red covers, gold gilt lettering still bold. Tight binding, clean pages without inscriptions. All impressions of the dust jackets are equal to impressions of books. Dust Jacket of Fellowship of the Ring is price-clipped, spines and extremeties of dust jackets are slightly frayed and toned, very minor fading towards the spine without effecting the red lettering. A beautiful early set in near-fine condition.
